S-Lift
The
S-Lift is a good alternative to conventional, more invasive lower facelifts.
Over the past decade, the trend in facelifts has been towards more extensive
operations with surgeons dissecting deeper into the muscle layers. However,
although these facelift techniques carry more risk to the patient and
involve more trauma, they have never been proven to give better results.
Many surgeons are now beginning to realise that these more radical procedures
are not necessary. It may well be that less is more.
In many patients, equally dramatic results can be achieved with the less
invasive S-Lift. The S-Lift combines the best of both worlds - a shorter
incision with minimal scarring together with the latest techniques in
muscle and tissue tightening. The results are natural-looking and long
lasting.
Whereas the conventional facelift may leave significant visible scars
and loss of hair, the S-Lift has no incision behind the ear and that at
the front of the ear is concealed within the fold. Swelling and bruising
and the risks of complications are minimised because less skin has to
be lifted off the muscle layer.
The S-Lift is performed under sedation using local anesthetic. The procedure
takes between one and a half and two hours. A general anesthetic is not
necessary, but can be used if the patient wants it. Recovery times are
also shorter. patients are typically back to work in one week.
The S-Lift is most suitable for people under 60 years of age or those
who have had a previous facelift which needs some tightening. Some patients
over 60 and those with large amounts of fat or loose skin under the chin
may need a conventional facelift. The S-Lift is equally suitable for men
and women.
It can be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as eyelid
surgery, facial liposuction and laser resurfacing.
