Dr Dr Phil Scarlett (FRACS)
Dr Phil Scarlett qualified as a doctor at the University of Sydney and, after extensive further postgraduate training, as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1992.
Phil’s surgical training included 3 years experience in the UK where he was awarded a prize by the North of England Surgical Society for the best trainee presentation at their Annual Meeting. He has had articles published in both the Journal of the College of Surgeons in England and the Journal of the Australasian College of Surgeons.
Phil has operated in private surgical practice in Brisbane since 1994 and is also a consultant surgeon in the public hospital programme. He has a special interest in surgery of the breast and is a full member of the Breast Section of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
With his extensive surgical experience Phil made the transition to cosmetic surgery in 2005. He has a particular interest in all aspects of cosmetic surgery of the breast and this led him to join Australia’s leading breast augmentation clinic, the Cosmetic Surgery Institute of Australia. The Institute, founded in 1995 by Dr Daniel Fleming, has introduced to Australia important advances in techniques of breast augmentation including the rapid recovery technique and the exclusive use of P-URE Brazilian breast implants which increase safety by reducing the commonest complications of augmentation surgery.
Phil also specialises in liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tucks). He strongly believes patients need extensive information before they can make an informed choice when deciding if cosmetic surgery is the right for them. Consultations are therefore with him personally, not a nurse or “consultant”.
