Information On PIP Breast Implants For Australian Patients
Some Australian patients have a brand of French implant called PIP. There has been considerable media attention given to alleged problems with these implants in patients in France. The Australian Government regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (the TGA), has examined PIP implants used in Australia and found no problems with them.
It has convened an expert advisory panel to consider the issues and Dr Fleming is a member of this panel. Following a meeting of the advisory panel on 4th January 2012 the TGA has issued advice for Australian patients and it can be viewed at these links:

The conclusion of this advice is that women with PIP implants in Australia have no cause for alarm and need not take any action at this time.
